Serial Monitor cannot be displayed

This was just working fine last night.

The Uno board loads fine. When I select the serial monitor another Arduino icon appears under the editor icon which is open on the screen - as is normal for multiple windows within any application.

If I click on the lower icon the serial monitor mini window is displayed next to the mini editor window, but clicking on the serial monitor window does nothing.

Closed everything, rebooted to no avail.

ver 1.8.19
Win7/32.
Please, I don't want to hear about Windows 7. Tt has worked for months and should work as before now. Everything else on the computer works fine. I need Win7/32 for other development programs that do not run on Win 10.

The Serial Monitor is non-editable. It is the stderr, stdout for the IDE. Consider it like a printer or a dumb terminal.

Never mind.

Found the answer in my Win7 book. I selected MAXIMIZE on the serial monitor icon window.

Yes, that is correct. But this is (was) a Windows operation setup problem.

I open multiple IDEs with several Arduinos connected and no problem with monitor windows. I just need to remember what is on what USB port. This is becoming a problem with the newer Arduinos as they release the USB port and the computer re-enumerates changing its name.
