Serial Monitor data saved as txt file

Hi guys

So I using a pulse sensor and I want to save the data from the serial monitor as a txt file so I can use it in matlab or kst for plotting. Is there a way I can do that?

Thanks

This works in Linux:

Click in the Monitor window, type [Ctrl + A] (select all), type [Ctrl + C] (copy), the monitor contents are on your clipboard, paste it into a text editor or wherever.

If you use a decent terminal program (e.g. RealTerm under windows), you can tell it to save received data in a file.

The only advantage of serial monitor over any other terminal program is that it does not interfere with file uploading. As the serial monitor is part of the IDE, the IDE can control the connection; it can't do that with external programs.

For the rest, the serial monitor is extremely primitive.

and what's more, you get to timestamp the data using the PC clock.
