Serial monitor doesn't work in the 2.0 IDE but It works in the 1.8 IDE

I am using the same code but it only works on the 1.8 IDE. I am using a non official arduino nano. Both IDEs have the same setup.

Thank you in advance.

I am having the same problem. Serial Monitor in IDE 2.0+ does not work. Tried with Nano, UNO, ESPs, Potentas, etc and serial comms work with 1.8+ and the 6 external terminal/serial programs that I tried but not with IDE 2.0+. Not a big deal and don't really care if it gets fixed but surprised that a rewrite of the Arduino IDE would fail in so many ways. Seems like a pos to me compared to other IDEs but just my experience in trying it out for grins as I don't use either. Thought it might be something worthwhile but not even close.

Your topic has been moved to the dedicated IDE 2.0 section of the forum.

Please dont post screenshots. Particularly for your code.

What is your operating system? Windows, Mac, Linux ... and version?

Have you tried a seperate serial monitor - eg PUTTY, ( I use Termite under windows)
