Serial Monitor not in separate window now

In IDE 2.3.2. is the norm that the serial monitor is not a floating window now?

In the tuition videos when the serial monitor is used it is as a separate window, am I missing something?

The Serial monitor is not in a separate floating window but you can achieve much the same effect by opening a second instance of the IDE associated with the same COM port

The lack of a floating Serial monitor is one of several annoying things that are on the list of things to be fixed and have been for some time, so don't hold your breath
