Hi, my serial monitor is off the screen in Ubuntu 13.10 amd64, and I cannot figure out how to get it in view. It shows up when I click the arduino icon in the launcher, but not when I click on it to bring it into view.
Remove this topic, figured out how to get it on screen, all works now.
So you don't see any reason to say how you did it for the next person with the same problem?
Came for help, not to help?
Just had this problem and figured out how to solve it. Right click on the Arduino icon in the Ubuntu taskbar. Select Serial monitor (ttyUSBx). Then push ALT+SPACE to bring up the maximizer window. Select "Move". Then use the arrow keys to position it onscreen.
Hope that helps.

Same (alt-space) answer works with Windows when something is off the screen.
This can arise quite easily, if you have, say, a laptop to which you sometimes connect a second display, configured as extra screen space vs just to echo what is on the main screen.
