Serial port '/dev/ttyACM0' not found

Hello

I successfully uploaded and ran the blink example to my arduino board and it worked perfectly. Then i uploaded the second 'AnalogReadSerial' sketch. The first time it worked fine i turned on the serial monitor and i saw the 1's and 0's output. Second time i tried to upload the blink example again but it threw an error at me (one in the subject) + did you select the right one from menu? Well i can't since it's greyed out! I have looked at other posts in the forum but it's all bullshit no actual solution to the problem. This is seriously pissing me off right now, any help appreciated.

My system:

  • Arduino uno,
  • Linux Ubuntu 'Natty' 11.04, 32-bit,

Thanks, Janek566

Am i going to get a reply or not? I paid for this thing over 20 pounds and it doesn't work. I've seen a thread where a mod said it's a known issue (in 2008) - still not fixed! Why should I suffer?.. because i have the best OS? Are creators of arduino software such win fanbois? Pathetic.

Ubuntu 11.04, IDE 0022

I just got a mega2560...

I notice I must log in as root in order to set the serial port to ttyACM0 as required.

(do dmesg with your board plugged into USB...you should see that.)

if I log in as anyone other than root, that option is greyed out.

I've posted a new topic about this.

HA I KNEW IT! i knew if i'd whine about arduino someone would answer :stuck_out_tongue: Thank you very much sir i'll try to look for your post.

Check to make sure your a member of the group /dev/ttyACMO belongs to. If not add your userid to that group, logout and log back in.
