serial port greyed out-1st time arduino user

Hi,

I'm trying to load first test program and I'm supposed to select serial port from the test menu but it's all greyed out so I can't. I have a MAc G5. What do I have to fix? It's not in the troubleshooting section. Thanks for your advice.
