serial radio modem

I'm quite new to arduino and trying to create some kind of live telemetry system for my nitro buggies. I've been trying to find some kind of serial radio /data modem which is cheap. Small and legally usable in the UK.

Its not going to control anything just repost data from sensors so it does not need any fancy features just tx and Rx.

Any recommendations would be great. Thanks in advance.

How many channels?
What sample rate?
Range?

Not sure Bout channels or rate.

I'm most probably going to be transmitting gps corps, accelerometer and temp sensor.

Range is probably going to be less than a football field.
