So, my laptop does not have enough screen size to show the entire list of possible boards when selecting the Board type under the Tools Menu. There is no obvious up or down arrow and using my scroll wheel to move the menu up and down does nothing. I have a dual display setup and when I move the Arduino IDE to the 22 inch screen the drop down menu is larger and displays more available boards. My question is how do I scroll through the "Board" drop down menu when I only have my laptop and not all the boards are displayed.
Yeah, so, apparently this (Scrolling "Boards" drop down menu and one other) will be a new feature with version 1.5.5. I found the answer under the improvements of the Beta version for 1.5.5. Apparently there were not enough boards with 1.0.5 to justify the feature which you would think should be a standard feature with any program these days with drop down menus. I guess it's like buying a car only to find out rear-view mirrors will be on the next year's model. So until then us Windows users will have to use larger screens to see the entire drop down menu.

Can you increase the screen resolution on the laptop?
A good thought, but I am already at max resolution.
I have the exact same problem.
It is really annoying. When I want to change board to Pro Mini, I have to tilt my screen to reach the Pros at the bottom of the drop down menu.
... and the sketchbook overflowed a long time ago, but at least the old sketches can easily be opened like any other file.
(I have not found a similar way to change board. Is there one?)
Is there a way to "comment out" all the boards I do not use from the drop down menu?
Yes. You just need to edit the boards.txt file. # marks a comment. Or, make a backup of boards.txt and simply remove the entries you don't need.
Thanks.
I've removed some of the more obscure members of the attiny family that I had added previously, and can now see the relevant members again.
