Servo motor shield Arduino

Hi,

Is there an Arduino servo motor shield available containing a H-bridge and a dedicated A-B encoder chip? Also one integrated stepper driver would be welcome.

I would like to teach myself something about PID controllers and use the shield to learn something about position control.

Regards,

Leo

A servo motor has logic inside, it doesn't need any driver board.
The Arduino Servo library can be used to control servo motors.

There are many boards, also with a dedicated chip to generate servo signals.
This is a nice board : Adafruit Motor/Stepper/Servo Shield for Arduino v2 Kit [v2.3] : ID 1438 : $19.95 : Adafruit Industries, Unique & fun DIY electronics and kits

Search the websites of www.adafruit.com www.sparkfun.com www.pololu.com for other boards.

Hi,

The servo motor I mean is not an RC servo but a regular DC motor using an AB encoder for feedback.

The Arduino motor shield like http://www.arduino.cc/en/Main/ArduinoMotorShieldR3 is what I'm looking but with an encoder chip (for each DC motor) on board.

Okay, now I understand. Sorry for being slow to understand
A driver board with H-bridge and a chip for the encoder, and maybe some control chip, all on the same board. Sorry, that is new for me, I have not heard of that before.

I think manufacturers that make those motors, also make their own board. There are different types of encoders, I don't know if there is a common chip for all.

Hi,
Here's a board intended for much of that:

I know it is used with some encoders on some robots, but I'm not sure of where info is..
the manual is here:
