servo too hot!

I am using two Hi-tec 311 servo motors.

They are working fine but when I leave them in one position to a long time they seem to be making a "cricket" chirping kind of sound and they get very hot. This is only happening to one of the motors.

Has this ever happened to any of you? I am worried the motor is going to burn out.

If you swap the servos around, does the same one get hot? If so it could be a faulty servo.

How are you powering the servos?

What are the servos driving?

I'll give that a try. I am powering them with 5v. They are getting 12v from a wall wart and I am powering them through a 5v regulator.

Ensure you have sufficient capacitors placed after the 5V regulator. I would recommend 0.1uF ceramic and at least 47uF electrolytic.
