Servomotor hold position

Hi erverybody. I use a small servo motor to grab an object with a gripper. My question now is: how does the servo stay in the driven position so that the object is held? Must the servomotor position continue to be sent to the servo, or does the arduion in the background, and I can keep the program running with other things?

Servo is one kind of device and servo motor is a completely different device.
A servo reacts according to the pulse width sent to it. Sending the same pulse width the servo stays at that position.

Unless you detach(), the servo will continue to receive whatever pulse width you last set for that servo; it's done transparently by an timer-based interrupt routine.
