Shadow Light Wall??

Hi all,

I am trying to make a shadow light wall that is similar to http://www.inhabitat.com/2008/10/14/dobpler-interactive-led-wall but in a much smaller scale. I'm using 64 photocells and 64 LED and basically want the LEDs to light up wherever shadow casts. I'm using Arduino Duemilanove to program and power this system.

So far I have connected all photocells using 9 multiplexers(HCF4051) -one master chip controlling 8 chips- and they are working. Now I'm trying to wire LEDs in the same way using 9 addressable latches (HCF4099) but having trouble figuring out the schematic for this. Does anyone know how to wire multiple 4099s in a way that one master chip is controlling 8 others?

Also, I'm having lots of problem with the code for this system.. If anyone know of a good example code I can take a look at, please let me know..

Rather than use the 4099, consider using shift registers: http://www.arduino.cc/en/Tutorial/ShiftOut

how to wire multiple 4099s in a way that one master chip is controlling 8 others?

Simply wire the outputs of the master latch into the enable inputs of the salves.
Then to address a slave you simply address the master with the 3 most significant bits of the address and the three least significant bits of the address go to all the slaves.
