Shield to Connect to 3g/4g

Does anyone know of the best way to connect to 3g/4g ?

It appears the GSM is no longer an option as it is obsolete.

Why do you want to connect to GSM/3g/4g?

I am measuring data on a wearable device and would like to send data via HTTP/HTTPS to the google API every 10 min.

Are there any LoRa gateways in your area? LoRa had long range, is free and is very low power, making it great for wearable sensors.

Unfortunately no.

But I am sweden and there is strong 3g/4g everywhere, which is why I would prefer to use that. But the arduin GSM board is retired. I had a GSM playground v1.6 but the library doesn't seem to work anymore. So I am trying to figure out what the best approach to that would be. The rest of the wearable is up and running I just got to start getting the data sent over the internet, including from some remote places.

I’m not aware of any/many 4G shields. 3G are all over the place.

The difference is only in the data channels, voice and SMS are carried in the same way on both.

I’ve been using over 50 SIM5320 based modules for a couple of years with zero problems.

The challenge comes because of the fragmentation of spectrum - so you may need to be careful choosing which module against carriers and country.

I’m not aware of 5G modules yet, but I expect all the calling will become SIP based, SMS will disappear in favour of IP based messaging. Stay tuned.
