short question about official Wifi-Shield (HDG204-chip)-working as accesspoint?

Hi there,

sorry for another maybe stupid question.
Yesterday I was told I should just configure my Wifi-Shield as a server/accesspoint so that it sends its own SSID and then connect my laptop to it. Is this possible? I only found examples where the Wifi-Shield was connected to some other WLAN, and none where it functions as access point.
Now I am a bit irritated. It would be nice if some of you could confirm what is possible and what is not.

Thank you!

I have not looked at the capability of the HDG204 chip. It may be capable of working as an access point, but I think the Arduino firmware and library does not have that capability.

IMHO, with the current firmware, it doesn't do a very good job as a station.

Thank you!
This confirms what I was thinking.
