Schematic says LM358D, and it's in SOIC-8 package.

Honestly, i think any LM358 in SOIC-8 will work. It's not doing anything particularly exotic or demanding... And yeah, if you apply power to them backwards, LM358's die almost immediately, and get hot when you apply power the right way. I did that to one of my 434mhz receivers.
IMO - the hard part is getting the old one off.
