For some month now I've been using different (2 models) SI4432 transceivers to communicate between various Arduino ProMinis (see wiring Si4432 - ElectroDragon Wiki. (I am using separate 3.3V regulators to supply the required power and levelshifters for the signals if the Arduino is a 5V)
The problem that I have is, that they don't seem to last very long. Everything works fine for a while (some weeks) and then - out of the blue - the transceiver is suddenly completely dead (like in physically damaged) or it is suddenly defective (e.g. it may still transmit but no longer receive). (Of the 6 transceivers that I meanwhile bought, only one is still fully functionaly and 3 are completely dead).
The only interactions that I am aware of with some of the devices was that I regularily turned off/on the power. I don't know if that might have led to some power surge that might have damaged the transceiver. Maybe I was electrostatically charged when touching the Ardiuno..
Is there anything that could be tried to make the design more robust and saveguard this apparantly very fragile transceiver against whatever it might be that's damaging it..? (that 1.27mm pin row is just too annoying to re-solder all the time...)
