SIM800L Power Supply is not working

Hello everyone! I'm doing a project which uses the module SIM800L. but I'm having problems with its power supply. When the module arrived at my home, I tested it using a LM338 regulated to provide 4V to the module. However, the module wasn't registrating the SIM Card, and I thought it could be a problem from the power suppy. However, after I tried to change the power supply nothing more is working.

Currently, using a lot of different power supplier, when I measure then without the SIM800L the voltimeter indicates that there's a voltage of 4V ~ 4,5V. However, when I put the module at this supply, the voltimeter measures a voltage of only 1,5V, and the regulator heats. So, my doubt is if my problem is more probable to be a problem at the power supply, or if it's more probable to be a problem from the module.

Does your power supply provides enough amps? 2A might be needed

Yes, my power supply does provide more than 2A, but I was testing more today and I've seen that the GND and the VCC had a short circuit indicated by the multimeter. This is normal?

Short circuit is never a good thing…

How did you measure? Diode test or ohms setting?

I did the measure with both settings. With diode setting was indicating 0.00, and with ohm was indicating less than 100miliOhms.
