SIM900A flash firmware for Europe

Hello,

I have a SIM900A mini v3.8.3 module, I want to connect it to an Arduino Uno to receive/send sms.
I connect it to my Arduino, following forum informations, I can connect to the SIM900A and send AT command.

I saw that the firmware was defined for Asian countries, so I flash the fimware with 1137B15SIM900M64_ST.cla file and SIM900 series tool dev 1.9.

Then I try so send AT command but nothing happen, my monitor is empty (baud rate: 9600).
I try other baud rates, sometimes some weird caracters appears but the connection seems to be NOK.

Do you know a correct version that could be used to restore my firmware or the latest software that should be used for Europe network?

I verify all my wires and I can't understand why the communication is NOK, I also test the communication, with a USB to TTL module and AI Thinker tool to send AT commands but I have the same issue.

Other information: when I finish to download the firmware, both leds are ON, when I try to send AT commands, both led blink at the same time every 1s.

I used a external DC 5V 2A alimentation.

Thank you for your help!

SIM900 is 2G and doesn't work everywhere. Have you confirmed your network supports 2G? Successfully sending AT commands is not confirmation.

Hello,

Thank you for your answer, indeed I need almost 3G GSM module... I'm located in France and I want to use a GSM module, only for SMS exchanges (domotic control needs), do you know wich GSM 3G/4G module is the most appropriate for my needs? Currently I don't need to send data, only SMS.

Best regards.

I don't know specifically, I'm in Australia, but check out the SIM7600xx family. I understand that they are the new norm.
