I just received the new "Duemilanove" board. I am new to all of this but still!!!! Under tools, Duemilanove isn't listed, could this be a problem since it is so new? Also, when I do try to upload I get; Avrdude: stk500_getsync(); not in sync; resp = 0 x30 ........ then the next line states ; Avrdude; stk500_disable(); protocol error, expect =0 x 14, resp = 0 x 51,,,,,,,, any help would be greatly appreciated.

first you need to install drivers for the usb . which makes a virtual coms port , which must be set with tools / serial port.
To use the Duemilanove board use the diecimila setting .
Peter247, thanks for replying. I made the first few attempts with no luck. I deleted the environment and then downloaded it again. I have "com3", it also defaulted to the diecimila board too. No action. I'm not familiar with " Bootloader" could this be an issue?
Peter, thanks for the help. I found the problem. It wouldn't acknowledge the usb when I plugged it in. When I went to the ports, I plugged it in and then watched what happened. I found the port and then deleted it. I then unplugged the usb and then plugged it back in. It recognized it as a new hardware and then I went about it the correct way and it works now.
