I am trying to write a sketch,using two stepper motors to first move both motors a set distance, then move again but with one motor reversed. When I run it the first moves are made continuously i.e. not going on to the next part. Could someone please tell me how to stop after one pass of the first section then move on to the next please.

Sounds like you just have to remove that code you have there on line 42...

Notice your own confusion when presented with the error on line 42 and the one on line 213 too...?
