Simple College Project Help,

Hey guys, I am a student from Ireland and I want to make a simple project for Internet Of Things In College, I've been in hospital because of my appendix removal, And I can't seem to figure out completely how to use the Arduino Yun.

The "Simple Project".

So Its pretty much a vibration sensor that displays how many times your door was knocked while you were away on the LCD Screen or maybe even an email sent out that somebody is knocking on your door (if not too complex)

The Equipment.
I have a Arduino Yun and a GROVE Starter kit.

For starters I can't get this Piezo vibration sensor to light up an LED When there is a vibration.

So what do you want us to do?

What have you tried?

Anyway, provide a schematic (electrical circuit drawing), your desired outcome/specifications and your code to possibly (or be more likely to) get help.

What do you mean by "college" - is it secondary or third-level education?

I find it hard to understand how you cannot know how to begin if you were listening in class or lectures. Have you asked you teacher for help? That is what s/he is paid for. It may surprise you to discover that teachers like questions from students.

If you think someone here is going to give you a working program that you can pretend is your own work then you have come to the wrong place. And in case you are worried by nationalistic bias, I am Irish.

Most of us have been in one, as well. What does that have to do with your project?

I have just finished my IoT class at uni and you seem to be forgetting the main factor its "the internet of things"

here is the requirements:

"Autonomously demonstrate a comprehensive range of specialised practical skills in creating a
substantial complex individual IoT model at the forefront of knowledge with at least 2
means of collecting, 2 means of exchanging over the Internet or over a long range connection
*and 2 means of visualising data. Demonstrate individual professional practice." *

I don't know if your criteria is exactly the same but i can guarantee it needs to send data over the web somehow, i used a ESP8266 and a ethernet shield but as for your knocking sensor you could use a "piezo vibration sensor" and i suggest you just look and the Arduinos example for how to display a simple number on an LCD display that really quite simple, and just send the data to a web server which you collage definitely has and you have used prior im sure.

as with all sensors, you have to get a reading.
since I could not find a link to your device, I have no clue what the output is.

once you have an output from the device, or, input to your arduino, you can watch that signal.
if it indicates movement, the lighting of an LED is child's play as it is in the examples in your IDE.
