simple udp example ?

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone could show me a quick example.

I'm wanting to use an arduino to send a simple string of text via ethernet udp to a server every second.

I have done a few examples that send a response ones a packet is received, but not to just send out a packet every second. It's sensor data to a server I'm trying to get.

Thank you in advance to any and all help.

So, you don't care that it actually gets there?

Why are you hung up on using UDP?

Im not really hung up on using udp, just looking at maybe a different way to finish my project. I have been trying for weeks now to use modbus with my project but no success. I'm open to any ideas.

Here's another post I did that describes what I'm trying to do. I'm new at this and my lack of knowledge is getting the best of me.

Thank you for the reply.

Why not check out the "Blink without Delay", set it to 1 second and instead of blinking, send your data.

MODbus is great, but it's the same as UDP, it just shouts around hopefully someone receives it. BACnet (The more professional building automation language) is more like TCP/IP, it requires a handshake and so on.
