Hi, first post here. I tried boot loading a blank 328P by using an existing UNO R2 board. Everything seemed to work ok there. When I load a sketch, for example the LED fade, it only runs while the programmer is powered. As soon as I disconnect the programmer from the pc the LED goes out and I get nothing. I'm trying this by using the AVRISP mkII as programmer and Arduino IDE 1.0, Selecting UNO as board type and upload using programmer. What am I missing? I'm using the Arduino to breadboard connections and supplying power via breadboard.
I've had this happen a few times and scratched my head then realized that if the MKII is connected to the ISP and NOT connected to the PC then the MKII will hold the chip in RESET. So I basically leave the MKII plugged to the PC and remove the ISP.
