Sketch size (compiled) differs from IDE 1.0.5 to 1.5.5

Hello and good evening,

Not sure if I'm in the right forum here - and do not know for what I should search here (can't belive that this was never asked before... :blush: ):

  • what is the differenc between the compiled code from IDE 1.0.5 and IDE 1.5.5
    (the same Sketch is quit a bit bigger with IDE 1.5.5)
  • are there any options somewhere to uptimaze that?
  • or is it a Bug accumulating the size in IDE 1.0.5 or 1.5.5?

Has someone any background infos?

I will assume that both sketches are for the same board. You are not compiling one for the Uno adn the other for the DUE are you?

I think its problem with library. The similar problem i found earlier. Since these library being not updated if library in both sketch similar shows same else it says different
Check out the library function you include in both sketches .

I agree with you - it has to be something with the libraries.
But there must be something more than that.
There is about 300bytes more shown in 1.5.5. by simply comiling an empty sketch (with only the two empty function setup and loop)

Someone an idea?

switch on the verbose output in the IDE (file->settings) to see which libs are included ...
