sketch uses X bytes of program storage space

I just received this message while trying to upload my code:

"Sketch uses 10044 bytes (31%) of program storage space. Maximum is 32256 bytes.

Global variables use 612 bytes (29%) of dynamic memory, leaving 1436 bytes for local variables. Maximum is 2048 bytes."

I am not quite sure why this suddenly popped up considering it doesn't go over the max amount of storage space.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! thanks

Arduino IDE always shows that info. Probably you just didn't pay attention before.

alesam: Arduino IDE always shows that info. Probably you just didn't pay attention before.

It is preventing my sketch from uploading though

EDIT: idk what happened but I got it to work. Not sure why it was being weird earlier

If you get that mesaage and the code will not upload, the problem is with the serial connection, not the code. That message is telling you that the code compiled without errors.

If you only press compile the sketch will not be uploaded. Its quite easy to hit the wrong button.
