sketch won't upload to mini - mini won't respond

hi there!

new user. new user question :slight_smile:
this is the error i get:

avrdude: stk500_getsync(): not in sync: resp=0x00
avrdude: stk500_disable(): protocol error, expect=0x14, resp=0x51

i checked for the correct serial port by disconnecting/connecting.
i checked that the mini was selected from the board drop down menu.
i checked the wiring to my mini usb adapter.

also, my mini isn't giving any response when connecting to the usb. couldn't find out if there should be one though. as i said - beginner...

any help would be greatly appreciated. after reading the troubleshooting/getting started guide/forum im kinda at the end of my rope.

Please post a drawing of how you've wired it up. There seem to be more than just one versions of mini/mini-usb-adapter out there. Can't tell which ones you have.
