Sleep mask that opens at a user-programmable time

Hey all,

I would like to build a sleep mask that unclasps itself at a pre-specified time, so that it is easier to fall asleep at night and wake up in the morning. I hope this is not the wrong place for this post.

Do you have any suggestions for how to proceed? I don't know how the clasp would work -- I suppose I could use an Arduino board to send a signal to an electromagnet telling it to switch off, although this seems like overkill for a timer and clasp, and I'm not sure I want an electromagnet near my head all night.

Any ideas?

thanks,
Sleep Deprived

I don't know about you, but every time I've used a sleep mask, its rarely on my face by morning...

;D

Would it not be easier to to black out the room and work the lights/blinds automatically?

Agreed. Sleeping with a mask that has a power source, mechanics, and a controller would be quite uncomfortable..
