Slow screen updates, Last post shaky screen

  • I’ve been having very slow updates from this (only) WEB site for about a week, screen update sometimes takes 4 to 5 seconds.
My network speed is as it always has been.

  • I’ve also seen the last post of every thread shake up/down when slowly scrolling (iPad IOS 18.1.1).

  • Anyone else seen the above ?

This was mentioned a week ago. I added that the scroll seems to be on a spring (I scroll down, but when I stop scrolling, the web page scrolls back to where I started the scroll.

I also have sluggish, type ahead (like a keylogger) that I can be sentences ahead as the buffer empties a character at a time.

Recently I tried to delete a post. The AI said, "You must wait 19 hours before deleting," so... something is going on in development (discord?).

We have a forum setting that limits the number of posts you can delete per day. So the reason you saw this is simply that you hit the limit, rather than it being a bug.

The purpose of this setting is to prevent the frequent problem of thread vandalism, where a user deletes all their posts after they get a solution (perhaps because they don't want to get caught cheating on their school work?). This type of indiscriminate post deletion is harmful because their posts provide the context that gives meaning to the posts made by the helpers, which means the loss of the ongoing value of their work as a reference for others with similar questions. The type of user who vandalizes threads in this way is unlikely to be dedicated enough to come back the next day to continue their campaign of destruction.

I saw that the limit was quite strict (one post deletion per day) and have now increased it to allow two post deletions per day. Hopefully that will be sufficient to allow responsible forum users to perform non-harmful deletions, while still limiting the scope of destruction by rouge users.

  • Screen shaking problem was fixed by clearing cookies.
