I have not found the actual upload being that slow,
however, if you mean that the upload command takes a long time, even when very little if anything changed. That I have noticed, like it might take 8-10 seconds before it gets to the:
Generating function prototypes...
But then again, it is a lot faster than when I first started off programming. In those days I
used punched cards ![]()
What I tend to do now, is get up and get a cup of
If I am compiling something that is new or has significantly changed.
Sorry, I know not much help.
Hi guys. My sketches are uploading very solwly. I was thinking that it was cable that is the prob. Do any of you have any ideas?
Thanks
Is the problem with just upload or the complete process of compile and upload.
Maybe you can tell us which board you're using and the size of the binary/hex that you're trying to upload (if the problem is just the upload) or provide the sketch (if the problem is the complete process).
I am using a arduino giga and it is just the compiling that takes the most time. The upload is as quick as a flash!
Thanks
OK, if it's the compiling that is slow it's definitely not your cable. You can compile without uploading a board connected.
Topics of interest (same slow compile, different boards)
ok but what is the prob? do you have a solution?
Thanks
Read the other topics that I linked; start with the second one. There is no real solution to my knowledge.
I have merged your cross-posts @williamnumismatics.
Cross-posting is against the Arduino forum rules. The reason is that duplicate posts can waste the time of the people trying to help. Someone might spend a lot of time investigating and writing a detailed answer on one topic, without knowing that someone else already did the same in the other topic.
Repeated cross-posting can result in a suspension from the forum.
In the future, please only create one topic for each distinct subject matter. This is basic forum etiquette, as explained in the "How to get the best out of this forum" guide. It contains a lot of other useful information. Please read it.
Thanks in advance for your cooperation.
