Hello again!
I've recently begun work on a small Cellular project. After my initial research, I wanted to use the SIM800L module, however that is a 2G module and is now, as far as I can tell, useless as there are no more 2G towers in the US and the chip is no longer being manufactured.
I then learned of the SIMCOM 7600 module. Which seems to be a much better module, however...It's a bit larger than I was hoping for. Also, there don't appear to be any simple breakout boards for the chip, but rather Microcontrollers with the chip built into board itself.
Are there any alternatives that would work with Cat-M1 but share a smaller footprint?
Additionally, all of the available GSM modules seem to be in a QFN package and difficult to work with. Definitely not compatible with a solderless breadboard. This greatly limits prototyping. Any ideas here? The SIM800L came on a great breakout board... ![]()
Thank you all,
Joe
