I want to replace the LM7805 surface-mounted voltage regulator with AMS1117-5.0 that will be used to power the atmega328p microcontroller.
I can't figure out how to connect the 2-pin input socked (VCC and GROUND) to the AMS1117-5.0 regulator, it has 2 VOUT pins and it confuses me a lot.
Pin 2 is the middle leg.
Pin 4 is the metal underside of the body.
Pins 2 and 4 are connected together.

There are a lot of variation of AMS1117 regulator.
Please provide a link to datasheet of the chip.
This is the component link

They're internally connected. Connect either one, or both. It doesn't matter. I usually route a trace or even a large copper pour underneath the part, connecting both pins. The reason for the copper pour is that the Vout tab/pin is also the heatsink for the internal die.

You need to connect both pins, otherwise VOUT will not be routed to both pins on the PCB layout and you may run into DRC issues
