And that's why we use buck converters and other robust components.
Regulators have their place, but I think a lot of designs allow them to be overtaxed to easily and people don't know better.
Just overbuild it a bit and you're good to go. I'm still pretty early in my learning but I'm leaning towards extra safety in my designs so far.
