Dear all , I have brought the official kit and book. I had some problems with project 1 which was using a basic example to blikk a led in that I could not be sure it was uploaded as we had error messages but I think we got there as when we changed a value the blink rate changed .
That is as far as we have got.
Now on project 2 spaceship interface. I am confident we got the code right . We missed a semicollon and corrected it . Pressing the tick all good.
Go to Tools . Arduino Uno Correct
Selected Ports there are 4 listed and all give error messages. Darn
Just when I was going to give up ( and had written the above ) a fith port that had never been seen has appeard; my boy wrote it down USB Modem 14101 . We pressed the upload buton and the lights began to flash.
Sunday monday ...Happy days.
Lets change the delay.
The port has taken a one way ticket to Uranus and has vanished.
We cant upload anything anymore as " no upload port provided."
I know its close to Haloween but what on earth is going on?
Do the above with the wire from the project to the +5V supply disconnected. If the port re-appears, re-connect the +5V wire. Does the port disappear again? If so, disconnect it again and carefully check the project wiring.
unplugged we have in the Tools menu:
/dev/cu.WH-CH510-serialport
/dev/cu.WI-C200-serialport
/dev/cu.Blutooth-Incomming-Port
/dev/cu.BT1501-SerialPort-1
Thank you BitSeeker. Pulling the Red +5 v first put me into a bit of a flap as everything was still flashing.
But then the "missing port " appeared .
I was able to change the delay and upload that and the lights flashed for longer so upload is now good. They are not flashing as planned but we will check the wiring and code.
Appreciate my post was maybe too jokey in style and content. I can assure you this project that is listed as 45mins took us many hours and we still have not got it 100%.
All replies are helpful and thanks to all who responded .
Once we have a base of knowledge I am sure we will be flying.
