Software Cant Detect Port!!!! [Still Need Help]

Version: 1.8.13
OS: Chrome OS
Downloaded Using These Instructions: https://www.stevencombs.com/arduino/2020/01/20/arduino-on-chromeos.html

so in the instructions I used, there is a part where you are supposed to use all there is an image that shows you his screen:

but when I try it shows this:

or

as you can see, the port button is grayed out, and I cant click :frowning:

How do I fix it !?!?!?

but when I try it shows this:

No image ?

I know that user johnfarmer had issues (not sure if they were the same) as well and (from memory) managed to solve them; maybe you can find something useful in his threads: https://www.arduino.cc/search?tab=forum&q=johnfarmer

the IMG is in attachment

Edit: in the original post!!!

Sorry, I thought that that was the one that was in the post.

Please check johnfarmer's threads, it might provide the solution.

is it this? Arduino Forum, and if it is which msg specify can help?

okay, So I'm going to try to reinstall the software to see if it works...

Edit: It Did Not Work, the Same Problem :frowning:

I tried to download the version (v: 1.8.10) used in the instructions but it did not work!!! the Same Problem Happend!!

What do I do to fix it?

I wonder if you have attached the wrong image. In the picture in your Original Post the Port is successfully selected.

If you do need to post another image please do so in your next Reply and DO NOT update the Original Post.

I use Linux and with it you have to add yourself to the dialout group in order to access serial ports. I wonder is there an equivalent requirement in ChromeOS

It's not going to get you very far leaving it in the attachment where we can't see it.

Help us to help you.

And I very specifically asked you NOT to modify the Original Post so we could compare it in its original form to the later images that you might post.

I'm losing interest in trying to help you.

There are two images in your Reply #10. They look identical to me so I can't figure what they are supposed to be telling me.

As far as I can figure out you have discovered that your PC does not do what the instructions say it should do. It seems to me you have posted an image from the instructions but have not posted an image showing how your PC is different.

Sorry, but you want help so its up to you to do the donkey work. I am happy to help with the stuff you can't do but I'm not going to do jobs that you are perfectly capable of.

As you are using Google drive the absence of the images may be because you have not given permission for them to be viewed by the public.

In any case why not just attach the JPG or PNG file here? I gave you a link to the instructions in Reply #11
