Software serial vs serial

I wonder, is it possible use TX/RX on a arduino pro micro, communicate with a arduino uno using Serial in pro micro and software serial in the uno? The main question, is serial compatible with software serial?

Yes, it is.

dxw00d: Yes, it is.

As long as the board frequency and baud rates are compatible, that's true. Some Minis are 3.3V 8MHz boards, which means that you need to use different baud rates on both ends to get communication to work.

Really? Is that due to software serial not being clock rate compensated?

It is. Forget what I wrote. It was wrong. The software does take care of the clock speed compensation.

Have tested it now. Works nice!
