Though I give 2 as input to SoftwareSerial From one of my node MCU, in the form of string. SoftwareSerial.readString gives 2 with a box as outcome sometimes. it works well for some time and sometimes it gives an extra box.....please help
The problem is in the code that you forgot to post.
Have a look at my Arduino Software Solutions which has a variety of sketches to read from Serial and parse.
Try one of those.
