SoftwareSerial with LPRS ERA400TRS

Hi,

I am trying to get 2 Nanos to talk to each other (well actually, its initially going to be one way).

I need to send a message form the external unit to the internal unit using LPRS ERA400TRS modules. I can find the datasheets for the modules, but not any examples. I have the Eval kit so with the 2 modules connected on different USB ports and using the eval kit software, I can transmit back and forth.

I have moved on of the modules to a breadboard with a nano and the following sketch

#include <SoftwareSerial.h>
SoftwareSerial dataLink(7, 8); // RX, TX

String msg = "H";

void setup() {
 Serial.begin(9600);
  // set the data rate for the SoftwareSerial port
  dataLink.begin(19200);
}

void loop()
{
  Serial.print("msg:");
  Serial.println(msg);
  dataLink.print(msg);
  delay(5000);
}

but all i get from the other module on the eval kit is a stream of 0x0 displayed. I am pretty sure is coming from the nano because as soon as i power the nano off, the input stops.

Has anyone experience working with these modules that could point me in the right direction please?

Thanks
ian…

did you try using the PC application for it?

did it work alright then?

if it did, maybe then try sniffing the UART comms to see how the data are packaged....
