Solar Charger Module

Hi,

I've been reading up on how to control a Solar Charger to charge a battery pack for an Arduino Project.

From what I understand, I would need to make a shield or standalone module, that has an MCP-73831 & LM-2674.

Amazon has them but I would imagine there is a bit more to just soldering these 2 chips onto a board.

So then I found this:

http://www.amazon.com/Arduino-Solar-Charger-Shield-Rider/dp/B00SMLLXVE/ref=sr_1_fkmr1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1432852655&sr=8-1-fkmr1&keywords=solar+charger+for+lithium+ion+battery+pack+arduino

Which seems more up my alley, in terms of it being already made.

Anybody every add solar charging battery pack capabilities to their Arduino project in a simple way? Any comments or suggestions?

Thx
