If you have monthly (as it sounds), annual, or even daily net metering, then all three of these scenarios will give the same financial result. That is, it doesn't matter what time of day your consumption happens.
A = solar production (area under the curve)
B = consumption (area under the curve)
if A > B, then you get paid, say, 0.05 $/kWh x (A - B).
if B > A, then you pay, say, 0.20 $/kWh x (B - A).
