Hi guys, first time here! I am looking to see if anyone is able to assist with an issue I am having?
I have an arduino Uno R3 and an adafruit I2C backpack attached to my 0.56" 7-segment display, but the display won't light up when I apply power.
I have followed the adafruit wiring instructions and everything is correctly joined up, but there is no LED's lighting up. I've done continuity tests on the solder joints I made, and everything is okay there.
The photograph shows the connections being made to the SCL and SDA ports on the arduino board, but the same error happens when I attach C to A5 and D to A4. The photograph shows the power being supplied from 3.3V but the same issue occurs when I attach to 5V.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Titchboi
Are you using Library for it or you are writing codes yourself?
The I2C address range for the IO Board: 0x70 - 0x77.
So, run an Address Scanner Program (see the attached file) to know the address of the IO extender.
Address_Search.ino (715 Bytes)
Thanks Golam!
I was looking over YT videos of guys showing theirs off to see what they were doing different, and I found the answer
See the attached photo for the difference in wiring. I took the D and C connections, and just moved them onto their own lines on the breadboard (from C to B and A respectively)... this has allowed it to run through the test simulation with no errors. Also note, there is now a resistor from 5V to breadboard then breadboard to + on the display. I have just tried it without the resistor and it does not work.
I figured I should post this so that anyone in my position may have help... is there a way to put this issue as "solved"?
Thanks,
Titchboi
