[SOLVED] Getting perms error for uploading a program in linux mint

I tried installing arduino-cli on linux mint so i can play around with it. Recently i couldnt upload, because i didnt have perms to ttyUSB*.

I have tried all methods including temporarily changing the perms, but nothing seems to work. I even tried the commands shown in the official installation page. I dont know if this is an issue on mint. Please do help i am stuck.

Nvm i actually was able to fix this issue.

Just in case there are more dumbasses like me, you have to restart instead of logout and log in.

For reference:- Linux Mint: can't add my user to "dialout" group - #4 by Riva

Great that you could solve it.

I have never had a need on various Linux systems to restart after adding the user to the dialout group; logout/login has always been sufficient.

Note that the link you posted is antique. I also did not see an indication about restart in the linked post; did I miss it

Sorry for the delayed response.

It was later in the discussion. The OP said they rebooted and were able to fix it up
