This post is a life saver. I was going mad about my new LCD, cos I had one before just like it and the code and setup worked for the old one, but wasn't working with the new one. Turns out it was the contrast. The new one was turned fully down, so the code and setup was working, but I just couldn't see the results. Never would have found that out
