[SOLVED] linux, new version 1.6.4 doesn't start *FIXED*...notes added

running GNU/Linux, fedora 15, and have installed the arduino 0022 version from yum, through cli…

when I run it from a shell (as root) it works fine, but without the temperature sensor (lesson #1 in the kit i bought)…and also reported an update is available, where it pointed to the newer version 1.6.4, which was downloaded, and extracted just fine.

however, when i click on the icon “arduino” all i get is the splash screen of it stating it’s opening, then disappears and nothing happens.

a few more notes… I’m running e16 as a window manager, and i was able to get it into a menu, but cannot start or launch the new version…

okay, a few hours later… i went through the starter kit’s book, up to the LCD screen and had to manually copy over the .ino files into a new session (yes, 0022 was opening multiple sessions/gui’s), and finally spent a bit on this install…and solved it myself.

checked a few dependencies and got it running…
now to create a dashboard LCD, car stereo , and bass amp controller(s).

nevermind…fixed it
