I do all my Forum posting using the "view source" setting which avoids that problem. View Source is the right-most icon. You can also set it in your preferences.
I see there is the extra http:// which is sometimes in the text box when you press the link button. Usually it's highlighted by default and when you paste, it gets over written.
I use FF and paste links all the time with no issues.

I use a mouse with a scroll wheel. Hold down the control key, and roll the wheel. The text in the browser gets larger or smaller. But, the address bar text, the status bar text, and the bookmarks menu text do not change size.
The little text in the status bar is hard to read.
I understand the reasons for hiding the URL. I just don't like. But, don't let one person's opinion matter much.

We shall not.
I used to be very worried about people not doing links at all before I understood the select-and-right-click option to open in a new tab (or depending on configuration, an option to use the same tab which is sometimes useful in order not to choke the History -> Recently Closed Tabs which I now set to 25).
It may not matter much for simple little links such as an Arduino topic page; it gets more of a visual nuisance when that expands to a message reference within the page, but when people post complex Google search links or item descriptions it gets quite ridiculous.
And of course, people often do not comprehend that on eBay links in particular, the rubbish after the "?" describes their personal search history, not in any way the item.
