[Solved] Questions re: music maker shield

Do I need the stacking headers to access the serial ports? Or since there are two parallel rows of holes, can I solder in pins to access functions on the Arduino Mega?

Second. Since there's an SD card on the shield, can I use it for a data file in addition to the music files?

Thanks in advance.

No ideas ladies and gentlemen?
Is there another section to which I should be posting this?

Got a link to the shied you are referring to?

No but you should have read the how to use this forum sticky post. In particular the bit that tells you the best way to ask a question.

Your post is a very good example of how not to ask a question. It got the response it deserved.

As a matter of fact, the Adafruit Music Maker MP3 can be found at the link.

The parallel rows of pins I was referring to can be seen in the picture of the shield:

After the row of headers, in from the edge abut 0.2", is a second row of holes. If I don't use stacking headers, can I solder in a row of headers to access the corresponding pins? In particular, I need to access one of the serial ports, as well as some analog & digital pins for interfacing with my host device.

Grumpy! Was that better?

This image makes it clear what's going on with the second row of Arduino pins:

I expect that you can solder to those holes if you don't want to use regular headers.

Yes very much so, thanks.
