[SOLVED] Rotary encoder

Hi All,

I was looking for a Rotary encoder and there seems to be several types.Which one would be compatible with the arduino ? One has 6 leads, 3 on each side and the other with 5 pins, 3 on one side and tow on the other.

Then at digikey i see there is mechanical and optical. Optical seems to be costlier. Which one would be best with an arduino.

Sorry about the questions since am just a beginner.

They all work with Arduino. Describe your project for more informed help.

@anishkgt, you have been on this forum for almost a year. You have 387 posts to your credit. How can you have reached this point without ever seeing "do not cross-post"?

But, here we are. Me losing a bit more of my life cleaning up yet another mess left by a selfish oik.

Duplicate deleted.

sorry about the double post.

Recently i had mentioned that the browser i usualy use, Firefox had been acting weird recently and none in the arduino forum knows about it. It is just when i try to login or post on the arduino forum. Other websites and forums seems to be working well. The post here.

My idea for the encoder is just to increment values and replacing a 10k pot for a Spot Welder project.

With that said, i did not know if the previous had been posted or not. Sorry about all the trouble
