Arduino Board Used: Arduino Mega 2560 Rev 3

• Question:
  Topic: I2C Setup with Pull-up Resistors—Does this setup make sense with this many pull-up resistors?
  Components used:

• 4 x 5kΩ Axial Resistors (0.4W, 0.1%)

• 1 x LCD I2C "Backpack" (link: https://www.digikey.com/products/en?keywords=1528-1446-ND)

• 1 x 16 Character LCD (link: https://www.digikey.com/products/en?keywords=1528-1502-ND)

• 2 x "2-entry" terminal blocks (link: https://www.digikey.com/products/en?keywords=A113321-ND)

• 1 x MPR121 Touch IC breakout (link: https://www.digikey.com/products/en?keywords=1528-1038-ND)

Since it appears all the components are on a single board and:

The Mega has pull-ups on board
The backpack has pull-ups on board
The touch sensor has pull-ups on board

Beats me as to why you think you need to add more. So, no, it makes no sense. None whatsoever.

I2C only requires pullups on SDA and SCL.
That's 2 resistors. You don't need any more resistors on those lines. You said you have 4
5k residtors. Why 4 ?
