Sometimes notice no examples, can not close sketch

For example, I am currently running the nightly build 20231215 which is I believe pretty well up to date.

I have had Arduino running for hours...(maybe 4 to 6). Just came back to my office and
Wanted to open up example sketch from a library and :

And the only things it showed:

Board type currently GIGA from my sketchbook/hardware.

3 notifications... One is it can not get to a board server to update it as the index is currently marked private on github...

For some reason it is showing offline:

Clicking on the X in the window frame does not close the window. (Only Arduino window open).
Close window from right clicking on the icon in the taskbar does not close window.

Killed app in task manager

@ptillisch and others

I should note, I am still seeing this, maybe once or twice a week.

Usually after the machine has sat idle for a while, maybe like hour or two and I come back to it.
Guessing maybe something like McAfee did something, like maybe clear out temp or something...

Also another maybe related issue, is maybe about three times now in the last month, the system has lost some of my Arduino settining, like color scheme and putting the Serial monitor on the right hand side.

That happened again yesterday, I opend up another sketch from the Open Recent,
and when it opened up, the sketch window (and the other two windows that were open), turned to the light scheme, monitors on the bottom, compiles without the verbose setting and no warnings...

I am running on Windows 11, and I currently running the nightly build: 20240206

Which guessing is maybe the last nightly before 2.2.2 is released.

Happened again today...

I had two windows open on the GIGA... I then turned off the giga and was gone for maybe an hour or two.

Now they both show an offline status bar as you can see:
clicking on close does not close window.

I tried to reopen the window and still no change.

Tried close all from Windows Taskbar, nothing happened.

Again only could close it by using Task manager.

Hi @KurtE

Did the problem occur after you woke your computer from a sleep state?

It

The machine I don't believe was in a complete "Sleep" state, but it was in the state where the display was off and came back on when I moved the mouse and then entered pass key...

But to be honest I did not look to see if the LED on the front of the processor was doing the slow blink or not.

I ask because there is a known bug that occurs intermittently under these conditions:

I also experience this sometimes. It doesn't occur consistently because I very often put my machines to sleep while the IDE is running and most of the time when I wake the computer the IDE is still fully functional.

Might be the same thing

Quick note: it happened again today. I left the Arduino running over night and yes I did a suspend.

And later had to kill the process using task manager.

Also during the same timeframe, Arduino lost most of my preferences.

I had 4 Arduino windows up, and two of them were shown in light, the other two in dark. It also lost, that I want verbose output, all warning and the like.

Looks like it preserved my URL list for additional boards and maybe that I wanted the Terminal winow on the right hand side....
