Hi, Thought I'd quickly plug my Atmegatron synthesizer here. I've just opened pre-orders on the new website (www.soulsbysynths.com). It's basic spec is:
- 8-bit monophonic synthesizer module
- Built on the Arduino platform. Software is open source and easily tweaked and uploaded to the Atmegatron.
The Arduino software that is shipped with the Atmegatron has the following:
- 32 waveforms
- 15 digital filters
- 1 LFO, 2 Envelopes (can modulate filter, amplitude, pitch, pulse width etc.)
- Advanced arpeggiator
- Portamento, Wavecrusher, Phaser, Distortion
- Load/Save 16 patches
The Atmegatron Librarian software allows patches to be transferred to and from PC/Mac. It also allows custom waveforms to be uploaded. It will be free and available on the website.
I am marketing it as a 8-bit monophonic synth, but it is also essentially a development board for anyone wanting to play around with audio in the Arduino environment. The circuitry features a 3rd order Chebyshev filter on the PWM output, to minimise phase distortion and maximise the audio range. The audio path uses thin film resistors and PPS capacitors throughout, so it sounds top notch!
I hope it is of some interest to the hackers on here! ;)
